Why is it, that every time we go to Termales…it rains? It was no exception this time around. But this time it waited until we were up and in the hot water before it started coming down steady. And something about that combination is just nice. Hot water, but cool drops of water off the face. I guess I would compare it to being in an outdoor hot tub while it is snowing. Weak comparison being the temps down here are pretty decent but do your best to work with me. We met up with the in laws for lunch and hung out there for a bit trying to gauge how Santiago was doing. This fever thing has been tricky. He might get a bit of a fever, take meds and the rest of the day nothing. Fortunately, he did great. His spirits were high and he was in a playful mood all day. He splashed in the water and had a great time as we passed him around to take him different directions in the pools. Most of the time was spent in the kiddy pool area but that was still fine. Since Mariana isn’t swimming yet, it was the place to be. Plus the other pools are gradually hotter than the previous and that probably would not have been good for the kids I’m guessing. Scary moment when we first got there, Mercedes down in the changing room fell and knocked her head on the floor pretty hard. She came up and she was saying she was ok. Claudia and I kept our eye on her pretty closely. Later on, we asked if she was ok and she insisted that she was. In moments like that, don’t you get worried that the person who fell is so worried about “ruining your time” that they don’t actually say anything and will just put up with any pain they might be in? That’s how I felt the whole time.
This was the first day in about a week that Santiago slept through the night. It was the first day that ALL of us slept through the night. Very comforting thought, my darling wife said that I was sleeping so soundly that she thought I was dead. That’s right. She thought I was dead! That’s awful! Today was lunch with Dora and Daniel, Claudia’s aunt and uncle. They live in Pereira but we hadn’t seen them yet since we’ve been here…our schedules didn’t align. They have always been very nice and sweet to us so it is always nice to visit. They’re 10 year old granddaughter, Daniella, came by after school and played with Mariana. They vaguely remember each other from 2 years ago when we were down here last. It is so odd seeing a child like her the way we do, Back in 2007, we came on vacation and Daniella was around 1 year old. She was my buddy on that trip and I have a ton of pictures of her because she was so cute. Then every about 2 years, we come to visit again and just watching what a difference 2 years brings. Now? Now she looks just like her dad, which I wouldn’t have said that before. So Mariana and Daniella played for a few hours outside in the park until it started raining again, then brought it indoors. Santiago was due for a nap during the rain storm but stuff came up making that impossible…then we suffered for his lack of nap later in the evening. We weren’t too happy about that. But overall, it was a very nice visit.
Picture under the table. Does this kid look like he has a fever???
Ok, termales pictures:
